Reading statistics

Daily page-view totals help show which writing is useful. They are approximate counts, not unique visitors. Those totals contain page paths and dates, without visitor IP addresses, email addresses, session identifiers or URL query strings. Obvious automated traffic is excluded.

Operational server logs are separate and may include network addresses and request details used to maintain and secure the site.

Comments

Comments are reviewed before publication. Your name and approved comment may appear publicly; your email address stays private and is used for moderation.

Email subscriptions

New-post notices require your consent and email confirmation. Email delivery passes through an email provider. Each notice includes unsubscribe and preference links. Opening a preference or unsubscribe page does not cancel your subscription until you submit it. There is no email open or click tracking.

Administrator access

Administrator sign-in uses secure session cookies. These are used for authentication, not advertising or visitor tracking.
